Dan Chang and Nick Melvoin Fundraiser
Thursday, June 25 from 3 - 4 p.m. via Zoom
We are excited to introduce Marilyn Koziatek, a mother and a leader in public education who is committed to serving her community. Over the past six years, Marilyn has advanced the work of hundreds of teachers and the education of thousands of students at Granada Hills Charter High School. Her career reflects a lifetime of dedication and service. Marilyn’s upbringing taught her the importance of helping others to build a brighter future. As a child, Marilyn and her family lived abroad on humanitarian missions, building school houses and opening prenatal clinics in small villages in Cote d’Ivoire, Nepal, Pakistan and Sierra Leone. Today, she is the Chair of the Valley Industry Commerce Association Education Committee and is on the Education Advisory Committee for the 38th California Assembly District.
Marilyn and her family have made the San Fernando Valley their home after graduating from the University of Southern California. As a mother of two boys who attend their neighborhood LAUSD school, Marilyn understands the barriers parents and guardians encounter when supporting the education of their students. In her professional capacity at Granada Hills Charter, she has worked to remove those barriers and increase parent engagement at schools. An expert in digital tools for schools, she launched her school's mobile app and is the type of leader we need as we navigate the COVID-19 school closures. Marilyn Koziatek is running to represent the communities of LAUSD Board District 3 because our kids and our Valley schools deserve a champion—a champion that speaks with the personal experience of a public school parent and with the knowledge of a school-site education professional.
